Want to know where you can see the largest group of road cyclists to ever bike in Carroll County? On August 13, over 300 cyclists will take to the roads in our area as part of the http://eurekasportsfestival.com/. The 3 day event will feature a triathlon on Friday, the 12th, at Holiday Island. Sunday will be running events in Eureka Springs. But the big event I'm excited about is the bicycle rides and races on August 13th. I've been working with the evening organizers, helping to set up the aid stations. These are located about every 20 miles or so, for the "tour" riders to stop and enjoy refreshments....GatorAid, fruit, energy gels, or some of the many home-made treats that have been donated by area residents. Don't be looking for the racers to stop, they will be flying through and just grabbing a water bottle from road-side helpers.

I've had a few people ask when the riders would be coming by their homes. Here's a description of the routes, followed by a listing of what time to expect them.
There will be 3 races and 3 "tours". The racers do not stop! The "tour" group will be stopping at the rest stops.
The 68 Mile Racer's Route.
Leaves Eureka Springs at 6:00, and head to Berryville on hwy 62.
Berryville square: 6:30, then to Green Forest.
Arrive Green Forest 6:55-7:00. Will turn left on 103 to Oak Grove.
Arrive Oak Grove, 7:25-7:35, turn left on 21 to Berryville.
Arrive 21/221 junction, 8:00-8:10, turns right to Carr Lane, the left on 86 to Golden.
Arrive Golden 8:40-8:55, continue on 86.
Turn left to Eureka Springs on 23, 8:55-9:10.
Holiday Island, 9:15-9:30
Finish line at courthouse in Eureka Springs, 9:30-9:45.

Berryville square: 6:40-6:50, then to Green Forest.
Arrive Green Forest 7:05-7:20. Will turn left on 103 to Oak Grove.
Turns left onto Cisco Rd, 7:15-7:30, to Berryville, left on 21 to 221.
Arrive 21/221 junction, 7:45-8:05, to Carr Lane, the left on 86 to Golden.
Arrive Golden 8:25-8:55, continue on 86.
Turn left to Eureka Springs on 23, 8:40-9:15.
Holiday Island, 9:00-9:30.
Finish line at courthouse in Eureka Springs, 9:15-10:00.

Arrive Golden 7:15-7:30, continue on 86.

The "tour" riders. This group will be riding at a more relaxed pace. They will be more spaced out, in smaller groups, with some riders riding faster, some much slower.

Arrive Green Forest 7:15-8:30. Continue east on 62.
Turn on Denver Rd at 7:15-9:05.
Arrive Farewell 8:05-10:05, then towards Blue Eye on 311.
Arrive Blue Eye 8:45-11:45, then to Oak Grove on 21.
Arrive Oak Grove 9:00-12:05, then towards Green Forest on 103.
Turn right onto Cisco Road.
Arrive in Berryville, turn right on 21, continue to221 junction, just north of town, 9:45-1:45. Continue on 221 to Carr Lane, then left to Golden.
Arrive Golden 10:15-3:05, continue on 86.
Turn left to Eureka Springs on 23, 10:35-3:30.
Holiday Island, 10:45-4:05.
Finish line at courthouse in Eureka Springs, 11:00-4:30.

Arrive Green Forest 7:40-8:35. Will turn left on 103 to Oak Grove.
Turns left onto Cisco Rd, 7:50-8:55 to Berryville, left on 21 to 221 junction.
Arrive 21/221 junction, 8:20-9:50, to Carr Lane, the left on 86 to Golden.
Arrive Golden 9:00-11:10, continue on 86.
Turn left to Eureka Springs on 23, 9:15-11:35.
Holiday Island, 9:30-12:10.
Finish line at courthouse in Eureka Springs, 9:50-12:45.

This ride will start in Eureka Spring, the north on 23 to 187. Riders will turn onto 187 and ride to the "island", where they will make a loop, then head back to Eureka Springs.
